Gordon West Public School Parents and Citizens Association
The goal of the Parents and Citizens Association (P & C) of Gordon West Public School (GWPS) is an incorporated not for profit association which aims to:
- Promote the interests of the GWPS by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation
- Assist in providing equipment required by the school
- Assist the teaching staff in establishment of school policy and management in all facets of school activity
The P&C support the school by:
- Operating the school canteen and the uniform shop
- Recruiting and coordinating class parents
- Hosting social and fundraising events such as Gordon West Fest, Parents' Night, Colour Run, morning teas and Interrelate information evenings.
- Applying for grants or fundraising to cover the costs of projects at the school, such as co-funding the Cyber Bullying workshop.
- Supporting the provision of equipment, resources and facilities to the school, such as funding new iPads.
Parents as partners in the education process, have a right and a responsibility to play an active role in the education of children. The association and it's reprepresentatives share the responsibility of ensuring representative decision making for the benefit of all students at GWPS.
