Principal's Message

Welcome to Gordon West Public School.

At Gordon West Public School, we emphasise the importance of a balanced education that nurtures each child's academic, social, physical, and emotional development to help them reach their full potential. In a warm, caring, and supportive environment, we foster a culture of aiming for personal best at all times.

We take pride in our esteemed school traditions, our outstanding academic achievements, ongoing educational excellence, a strong sense of school pride, high expectations, and valuable community partnerships.

Our focus is on providing high-quality teaching, promoting student academic growth, supporting student wellbeing, and fostering social success. Through collaborative efforts between students, parents, and teachers, we uphold high standards, engagement, and a positive atmosphere where every student is recognised, appreciated, and supported. We encourage families to actively participate in school decision-making and contribute to their child's education through the Parent and Citizens Association.

While we are dedicated to maintaining high standards for student engagement and enhancing academic outcomes, our school is also engaged in innovative projects spanning across the curriculum. This includes an exceptional Creative Arts program encompassing dance groups, bands, and choirs. We understand that our creative arts initiatives encourage self-expression, enhance problem-solving skills, instil discipline, and boost self-confidence.

Our strong emphasis on sports provides students with opportunities to enhance their confidence, fitness, and coordination skills across a range of sports. Additionally, our student wellbeing programs, such as the Student Representative Council, You Can Do It Education, and the Peer Support program, aim to further support our students' holistic development.

Gordon West Public School is more than just a place of learning; it is a 'home away from home' where the school community collaborates to nurture essential skills, build confidence, and instil knowledge and competencies for each child's success in today's world.

Our handbook and school website are valuable resources that provide detailed information about our school's organisation and operation.

I look forward to welcoming you to the Gordon West Public School Community.

Kind regards

Ellen Randall
